Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness. The needs of an Olympic athlete and a mother of three differ only by degree not kind. An athlete needs to squat to perform a sport, a mother needs to be able to squat to play with her kids. For years, you have probably trained like a body builder and ran like you were training for a marathon. Neither a body builder nor a marathon runner is truly fit. Many long distance runners have a vertical jump of only a few inches due, in part, from years of training long slow distances lacking any component of power development. If physical appearance concerns you, would you rather have the physique of a marathoner or a gymnast, a body builder or a 100-meter sprinter? The answer is clear, so why have we trained like body builders and marathon runners for all these years? At Crossfit Retribution we seek general, broad, and inclusive fitness.
